Two house building projects in Burton will receive Government cash to get them back on track.
They will benefit from the second round of Kickstart funding, which is designed to get developments, which have stalled because of the recession, moving again. £550 million in Kickstart funding will go to projects across England this time, in addition to £450 million already allocated in the first round.
The two projects in Burton are at the Morris Homes development at Paget Green and the BDW Trading development at Orton Place. They will receive nearly £900,000 of Government money.
Janet said,
“I am really pleased that Kickstart money is coming to Burton. The Government is investing now to build homes and to support jobs at a time when the building industry needs it most.”
“The Government is making it a condition of the scheme that the builders involved offer jobs to local people and have apprenticeship schemes. The money will help to re-start house building, support jobs and train the future generation of construction workers.”
All projects will have to go through a rigorous final assessment by the Homes and Communities Agency before they get the green light. One of the key factors will be the ability to complete the building work by March 2012. The developers will have to pay back 50% of the funding to the Government.
