  
Janet's parliamentary work centres on her membership of the Home Affairs Committee which deals with issues such as policing, terrorism, asylum and ID cards.

Janet regularly meets with ministers to discuss both national and local issues. She is also able to voice the concerns of local people in parliamentary debates and by asking questions in the House.
Janet is a member of a number of cross- party interest Groups. She chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group for Lupus and the Autism Group and has recently also taken on the chairmanship of the All Party Group on Play. She is a longstanding member of the the Parliamentary Beer Group
